Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Velo Video Player is a local video player for Android. The app plays video files stored on your device that you choose to open with it. The app does not require an account, does not collect personal information from you directly, and does not upload your videos or files to any server.
The only data collected is technical information required to display advertisements served by Google AdMob, which is described in detail below.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
Velo Video Player does not require you to create an account. You do not provide your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier to use the app.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically (via AdMob)
When you use the app, Google AdMob (our advertising provider) automatically collects the following information from your device:
- Advertising ID (AAID): A resettable, device-specific identifier used to deliver and measure ads. You can reset it at any time in your device settings.
- IP Address: Used for approximate geolocation and ad fraud prevention.
- Device Information: Device model, manufacturer, operating system version, screen size, language setting.
- App Information: App version, session start/end times, ad interactions (views, clicks).
- Coarse Location: Country/region-level location derived from your IP address (not precise GPS).
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email, phone number, or contact list
- Your photos, videos, or files (these stay on your device)
- Your precise GPS location
- Your browsing history or contacts
- Authentication credentials (we have no login system)
2.4 Log Data
Like most apps, the underlying Android system may record limited diagnostic information (crash logs, performance metrics) via Google Play Services. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
3. How We Use Information
The limited information collected is used solely to:
- Display advertisements in the free version of the app
- Measure ad performance and prevent ad fraud
- Improve app stability and diagnose crashes
- Comply with applicable laws and platform policies
We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your information to any third party. We do not use the collected information to identify you personally or to build a profile of you.
4. Advertising & AdMob
The free version of Velo Video Player displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob uses cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to:
- Select and serve advertisements relevant to you
- Limit how often you see the same ad
- Measure the effectiveness of ads
- Detect and prevent fraudulent activity
AdMob Consent (UMP SDK)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and other regions requiring consent, we integrate Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to obtain your consent before serving personalized ads. You will see a consent dialog on first launch (in applicable regions) and can change your preferences at any time via:
Android Settings → Google → Ads
Opt-Out of Personalized Ads
You can opt out of personalized advertising from AdMob at any time:
- Open your Android device's Settings app
- Tap Google → Ads
- Toggle "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on
You can also reset your Advertising ID at any time from the same screen.
For complete details on AdMob's data practices, see Google's AdMob Privacy Notice.
5. Third-Party Services
Velo Video Player uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Google Privacy Policy — covers AdMob, Play Services, UMP
- AdMob Privacy Notice
- IAB TCF v2.2 — Consent Management Framework used by UMP
6. User Files & Local Storage
Velo Video Player uses Android's Storage Access Framework (SAF) to let you manually pick video files from your device. Once picked, the app reads the file locally using scoped storage permissions — your videos remain on your device at all times.
- We do not upload, sync, share, or transmit your files anywhere.
- We do not have access to files you have not explicitly opened in the app.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored preferences. Your files on your device are unaffected.
- We do not request the legacy broad storage permission (
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) on Android 13+. On older versions, we request only the minimum needed.
The app requires only the following Android permissions:
- INTERNET — to load advertisements via AdMob
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to check network availability for ad loading
- READ_MEDIA_VIDEO (Android 13+) or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below) — only to let you pick videos you choose to open
